Scholarship Award Competition

Up to five graduating high school seniors from Erie County will each receive a Scholarship Award of $ 1,000.

To be eligible you need to graduate from high school in 2012 and one of your parents must be of Italian descent. Scholarships may be applied to a post high school program that furthers your education or training.

Judges will base their decision on your essay describing how your understanding of what it means to be a US citizen is influenced by your Italian heritage.

Winners will be chosen by judges selected by the Board of the Italian Heritage Festival.

Submit your essay and cover sheet (3 pages, double-spaced) to scholarship@buffaloitalianfestival.com by May 31, 2012.

• The training program or college you’ll attend after high school

Awardees will be notified by June 30, 2012.
Russell Salvatore will present the scholarships to awardees in July during the Italian Heritage Festival opening ceremony.
